Split desk grommet: design & fit notes

This original two-piece liner fits an existing rectangular, rounded rectangular, obround or round desk opening. The halves can be placed around already connected cables. One matched pair is supplied per quantity. The center is open, without a lid, latch or cable clamp. It is removable drop-in trim for indoor furniture.

Measure the actual hole after removing old trim. Use the smallest inside width and length, its corner radius and the clear depth below the desktop. Leave the selected flange overlap as flat desktop around every side. Corner radius cannot exceed half the smaller opening dimension. Obround means semicircular ends and straight sides; an ellipse or irregular cutout needs a different outline. For round holes, enter the same diameter twice and half that diameter as radius.

Total clearance is subtracted once from each measured dimension and half from the corner radius, down to zero. Sleeve walls reduce the clear cable opening on both sides. Rounded outlines use 32 straight segments per quadrant; the sleeve stays within the measured outline. The split leaves a 0.4 mm assembly seam. Installation turns the printed parts flange-up and lowers their sleeves into the hole. No snap fit or furniture-model compatibility is promised.

The live preview and exported STL contain both halves in their print orientation, broad flange faces down and sleeve walls up, separated by 4 mm. PETG, 100% infill, without supports. The complete two-part layout must fit the store’s 245 mm usable envelope inside the Bambu A1’s 256 mm bed. Guards preserve 2 mm sleeve walls, a 1.6 mm flange, at least 3 mm overlap beyond the hole and a clear opening at least 10 mm across.

The default pair costs $14 before shipping and tax. Pricing uses the actual two-half material volume and surface area, including the seam, flange and sleeve. Changing wall thickness or insertion depth changes price. The server validates dimensions and recalculates the price at checkout.

Check printed cable-contact edges are smooth before use. Physical print and fit testing are pending. Presets are dimension examples, not measurements for a named desk. No sealing, strain relief or load rating is claimed.
