Electronics mounting saddles: design & fit notes

A stock mount or adhesive fastener is often enough. This original saddle pair is for an unusual enclosed power brick, hub or electronics case that needs a measured screw-mounted fit beneath a flat surface. The case width, height, gap above it and crosswise screw pitch are independent. Each quantity contains two printed PETG saddles. Hardware and a separate retaining strap are required and not supplied.

Measure the widest rectangular envelope at both saddle positions, including feet and ribs. Total width clearance is added once; it is not a per-side allowance. The case rests on the bottom bridges. The top gap is measured between the measured case top and the flat mounting plane. Set it to the equipment maker’s required ventilation clearance; the default is an example, not a thermal recommendation. Keep every vent, switch, indicator and connector clear.

The screw pitch measures center to center across each saddle. Both saddles share this pitch. Place them independently along the device length; this longitudinal separation is chosen at installation and is not a printed dimension. You need two usable, vent-free strips of the selected saddle width, with at least 4 mm between them. Four screws must engage a suitable substrate; select their lengths for your desk or board thickness.

Flat mounting ears have external 45° braces. The checks leave 2 mm beyond each brace for straight screw-head and washer access, 3 mm around the head at the outside edges, and at least 3 mm along the saddle edges. Screw centers stay within 25 mm of the uprights to avoid long ears. Use pan-head screws with flat washers, without countersinking or overtightening. The screw clearance is a circular envelope inside a pointed hole; the point makes the roof printable when the U-shaped face lies flat. It does not lock a screw or provide a captive nut.

Slide the enclosure in from an end. The saddles are open-ended and have no integral latch or end stop. Fit a separate retaining strap to prevent lengthwise sliding. For stationary indoor use only, with fully enclosed equipment whose mounting instructions permit this arrangement. No bare mains components, battery packs, hot enclosures, wall mounting or transport retention. Physical print, fit, heat, creep and loaded-use testing are pending; no load or temperature rating is claimed.

Print both broad U-shaped side faces on the bed, as shown in the preview, with a 4 mm gap. This keeps the U, ears and braces in the layer plane. PETG at 100% infill, 0.4 mm nozzle, without supports. The complete pair must fit the store’s 245 mm usable envelope inside the Bambu A1’s 256 mm bed. Presets illustrate measured sizes and make no brand-fit claim.

The default pair costs $16 before shipping and tax. Pricing follows generated solid material volume and surface area for both saddles, braces and four screw passages. Width clearance, side walls, bottom bridges and ears all change material cost; the server validates measurements and recalculates price at checkout.
