Dust hose adapter: taper measurements & fit notes

A stock or flexible adapter may cost less when it fits. This adapter is for measured round ports and cuffs with mismatched sizes or gentle tapers. Either end can independently fit over a port or insert inside an opening. Each quantity contains one printed adapter; tools, hoses and hardware are separate. PETG is recommended for workshop use.

For a socket that fits over a port, measure the port’s outside diameter at its free lip and again one engagement depth toward the tool body. For an insert, measure the receiving opening’s inside diameter at the lip and one engagement depth into the bore. Use calipers in several directions to check roundness. Measure at the midpoint too: it should be halfway between the two end readings. Only smooth, straight-sided circular cones are supported, with no steps, curved bellmouths, ribs, threads or locking features. Ensure the entire chosen depth is accessible.

The adapter mouth mates with your depth measurement; its inner shoulder meets your lip measurement. This reversal applies to both sockets and inserts. Diametral clearance is added once to sockets and subtracted once from inserts, at both ends of each taper. It is not a per-side allowance. A taper follows the measured surface with positive clearance; it does not create or promise a wedged, locking or airtight connection. The entrance chamfer locally opens a socket or narrows an insert. Do not force the fit. Support the hose independently.

Assembly direction matters: a fit-over port must stay the same size or widen from its free lip toward the body. A fit-inside bore must stay the same size or narrow from its lip into the opening. Reverse tapers are rejected because the parts could obstruct one another while sliding into place.

The live section diagrams show the mating parts you measure. Finished dimensions below them describe the printed adapter. New tapered configurations preserve minimum socket clearance around the faceted circumference; insert dimensions specify the maximum outside diameter. Either cuff may change radius by at most 0.25 mm per millimetre of engagement. Checks preserve at least an 8 mm flow bore, 1.6 mm normal transition and cuff walls, and 1.4 mm at entry edges. Both transition slopes and chamfers stay within the existing support-free slope limit.

Print upright with the large opening on the bed. The complete part, including wider taper mouths, must fit the store’s 245 mm usable envelope inside the Bambu A1’s 256 mm bed. PLA and PETG use the existing material and infill settings. Pricing follows generated material volume and surface area; the server validates measurements and recalculates price at checkout. The original straight presets, meshes, paid configuration identities and default prices of $8.53 PLA / $10.04 PETG are preserved.

For room-temperature dry woodworking dust connections only. No liquid, pressure, heat or hazardous-dust application, and no brand-compatibility or collection-performance claim. Physical print, fit and airflow testing are pending. Presets illustrate measurements rather than verified fits.
